Taikan fell short of Porsche's expectations

Porsche publishes a report on sales of its models for the first 6 months of the year. As with other manufacturers, there has been a decline due to the coronavius pandemic. However, a big disappointment for the manufacturer from Stuttgart is the presentation of the brand's first electric vehicle, the Taycan, of which only 4480 units were sold during this period.

Global sales of the brand's models in the first six months amounted to 116 vehicles. This figure is 964% lower compared to the same period in 12. The Cayenne crossover continues to be popular. During the analyzed period, 2019 cars were sold. Immediately after it - Macan. It occupies 39 units. The iconic 245 sports coupe is up 34,430% (911 sales).

However, the results of the Porsche Taycan are far from what the company predicted. Management plans to produce 20 units a year at the Zuffenhausen plant, a figure that has doubled after an initial strong interest in electric vehicles. And that meant the Taycan was to become the brand's most popular model, as it overtook the Cayenne and Macan with 000 sales.

Porsche tried to increase interest in the car with several noisy advertising campaigns, but apparently this strategy failed. The launch of more affordable versions also did not help, since initially Taycan was available only in the most powerful and, accordingly, the most expensive modifications - Turbo and Turbo S.
