Dacia brand will release electric cars

The budget brand Dacia, which is the property of Renault, will release its debut electric models. Tentatively this will happen after 2-3 years.

Dacia is a Romanian sub-brand of Renault, which specializes in the production of budget cars. Among the most popular models of the company are Logan, Sandero, Duster, Lodgy and Dokker.

The Romanian brand shows excellent performance in the global market. For example, in 2018, the company sold 523 thousand cars, which exceeded the indicator of 2017 by 13,4%. The results for the whole of 2019 have not yet been collected, but for the period from January to October, the brand sold 483 thousand cars, that is, 9,6% more than a year earlier.

Currently, all Dacia models are equipped with a classic internal combustion engine. Recall that Renault already produce electric cars.

Good news for budget brand lovers was brought by Philippe Bureau, who holds the position of head of the company's European division. According to him, the manufacturer will begin producing electric models in two to three years. The basis will be the development of Renault in this segment. Buyers will have to wait a few years not because the brand does not have time to collect new items. The fact is that Dacia products are now one of the cheapest in the automotive market. Electric cars will cost significantly more. Thus, the company needs to observe the development of events in the segment.

If the cars of the nearest competitors rise in price, Dacia will easily release electric models. If this does not happen, the manufacturer will have to look for ways to reduce the cost of production. Otherwise, the release of expensive cars can lead to a drop in demand for Dacia products.
