The BMW X6 itself is a slightly absurd car. Combining SUV and coupe forms, it was instantly rejected by the puritans, but so well received by the market.

How about its super sporty X6 M Competition with 625bhp. Are the drive components taken from the racetrack? This is already completely pointless and abnormal. But at the same time it is very cool.

I don't see the point in discussing the meaning of this machine at all. Yes, it is unlikely that anyone will buy it for a trip around the Nürburgring, although there is a track mode, and if you do, you will be pleasantly surprised. With 21-inch wheels and tires, the profile of which is only 35 mm, it is unlikely to go. Probably, the engineers from M GmbH said to themselves, "what the hell are they doing to us in marketing." But the market wants it, period. And is it worth betting which model will sell more - the X6 M or the new driver's badge of the Bavarian M2 on a pedestal (see HERE)? It's just that there are people who want everything more, although this "more" is devoid of a clear meaning.

So let's dive into the absurdity of the BMW X6 M Competition and enjoy its complete madness.

Unreal

Weighing just 2370 kg and a high ground clearance of 21,3 cm, the car is powered by a Bavarian 4,4-liter V8 engine that draws in air via twin twin scroll turbochargers.

Its efficiency is further enhanced by a common exhaust manifold for both cylinder banks. Thus, the power of this even more special version of the "regular" X6 M has been increased from 600 to 625 hp. while the torque is 750 Nm. The high-speed engine is designed for motorsports with a special cooling system that can withstand trail running and extremely hard linings that transfer its power to the drive immediately. Although the engine loves the color red on the tachometer, maximum torque is reached from as little as 1800 rpm. and lasts up to 5850 rpm. At 6000 rpm, the peak of all 625 horsepower is reached. You can guess what this overlap of energy resources is. You step on the accelerator pedal and your thrust increases dramatically until you get scared and let go of the pedal. Acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h takes an unrealistic 3,8 seconds for a segment, and up to 200 km / h - 13,2 seconds. The top speed is 250 km/h as standard, but the M Driver package can be ordered, which shifts the limiter to 290 km/h. Another advantage is that if you order it from BMW, you are sent to Munich for training to improve your driving skills. If you decide to drive a 2,4-ton projectile at a speed of 290 km / h, you will definitely need it.

And the sound ... Especially if you open special valves in sports pots, the heart starts beating. I really don't see why you need to amplify this effect internally with the speakers of a super-luxury Bowers & Wilkins audio system - it is quite effective without synthetics.

Not many potential customers are thrilled, but the car's on-board computer reported a fuel consumption of 21,6 liters per 100 km, and BMW promises 13 liters on the combined cycle if you drive lightly. Not that such an attitude had ever happened to her.

But I was impressed not so much by the brutal strength as by its extraordinary containment.

Here you can see all the engineering genius of the sports squad of the Bavarians, because the torpedo is easy to launch, but difficult to make it obey you. Especially with this table and high center of gravity. The gearbox is an eight-speed M Steptronic sport transmission, which can be improved in three gears.

The 4 × 4 drive, specially tuned for the M models, has a noticeable rear axle support, but at the same time provides optimum traction. It also has a sport mode that gives you more freedom, but unlike the M5 (see HERE) you cannot turn off the car completely and the car can only be left in the back. It is still a Model X. Electronically controlled adaptive sports dampers (also with three tension modes), comprehensive optimization of the strength of the body and especially the suspension links to it, anti-tilt suspension system, an extremely straight sports steering wheel (with three levels of responsiveness), phenomenal brakes (with sport mode)

I'm just listing the technical solutions that make the X6 M look like a real sports car, even though it's a giant SUV. Yes, the massive 2,4 tonne mass isn't felt in the corner, but rest assured that this is one of the most stable and manageable 2,4 tonnes the automotive world has to offer. And so every mortal driving thinks that God has grabbed the cloak.
