Competition package adds authentic racing touches to the BMW M4 Coupé

Traditionally, the work of M GmbH cannot leave indifferent a truly passionate car enthusiast. This is especially true when it comes to models that are closest to the basic philosophy of the BMW brand. So it's no surprise that every generation of the M3 Coupe has become a legend since its introduction. That didn't change when the Munich-based company decided to separate the sedan and station wagon versions of the troika from their coupe and convertible derivatives, respectively, spinning the latter into a separate family of models called the Series 4 - the BMW M4 Coupe is a car that's more suited as a more than any other product in the Bavarian range. And since the line between sporty and racing spirit is very thin in classic M models, and at times almost blurred, the interest of buyers in the various “blade sharpening” options in the BMW M4 Coupe quite naturally led to the creation of the first Performance Package. , then to the Competition package and finally to the GTS version.

Competition package - one step closer to the racetrack

We recently had the pleasant opportunity to test the BMW M4 Coupe in Competition version, and we can say with confidence that this is one of the cars that we will definitely remember for a long time. If you think that behind the package with the eloquent name Competition is mostly designer flirting, and not so much real racing genes, he will be very disappointed. Not that the design does not play a significant role here, on the contrary, the aggressive posture of the car is skillfully emphasized by a number of discreet, but extremely effective details.

What is more important in this case, however, is that along with the undeniably impressive accents in the exterior and interior of the car, the most significant change is in the driving experience. Specially designed lightweight 20" wheels with extreme tires (10mm wider than standard on both front and rear axles), thicker sway bars for better roadholding, modified for finer damping and spring adjustments , as well as new safety settings are just some of the steps the Garching team has taken to make the presentation of the BMW M4 Coupe on the road and on the track even brighter. -Fine.

The result of the work of the engineers from GmbH will appeal to those who can appreciate the potential of such products with a high profile orientation - with the Competition package, the car can achieve even higher lateral acceleration values, while the rear remains neutral. longer than the standard BMW M4. With increased power to 450 horsepower (19 hp more than the production model), the car's power-to-weight ratio is now a fantastic 3,6 kg/hp, and on-road dynamics has become one idea. even more extreme. What's even more impressive is that, despite the overtly sporty chassis setup and the large wheels with low-profile tyres, driving comfort remains at a very satisfactory, even pleasant level.

Sound that gives you goosebumps

Another highlight of the Competition package is the new sports exhaust system in black chrome finish – in addition to the menacing look of its tailpipes, it impresses with the extremely respectful throat tones it manages to extract from the already melodious, naturally inline six-cylinder engine under the hood.

Inside the car, the most impressive are the superb sports seats, which allow the driver to sit low and are perfectly integrated into the robust and elegant cab. The ergonomics typical of BMW are close to perfection, and elements such as special seat belts and polished carbon inserts add a special nobility to the atmosphere.
