BMW The Isetta is an iconic model that will soon be revived with modern technology. In 2020-2021, it is planned to release two electric cars based on the legendary car. They will be sold under two brands: Microlino and Artega.
In 2018, the Swiss manufacturer Micro Mobility Systems AG unveiled the original Microlino car, which is, in fact, an ATV. The cult model of the 50s BMW Isetta was used as a prototype. The first copies were supposed to hit the market in 2018, but the Swiss did not work out with partners. After that, the choice fell on the German Artega, but here, too, it was a failure: the companies did not agree and decided to produce the car separately.
The cause of the conflict is the inability to come to a common denominator on the design issue. According to rumors, one of the manufacturers wanted to preserve almost all the features of the BMW Isetta, while the other wanted to make drastic changes. The matter did not come to court proceedings, and the companies dispersed peacefully. Former partners decided that both options would be useful to customers.
The timing of the release of cars is different. Artega will be released in April 2020, and the Microlino will be available for purchase in 2021.
The Artega model will cost the buyer $ 17995. The car will be equipped with an 8 kWh battery with a power reserve of 120 km. The maximum speed is 90 km / h. There is still no detailed description of the technical characteristics. It is known that the buyer needs to make an advance payment of 2500 euros.
The basic version of the Microlino is cheaper: from 12000 euros. A more powerful model with a battery of 2500 kWh per 14,4 km costs 200 euros more. Prepayment - 1000 euros.
