We can view a question as a frozen image at some point in time, but we can also see it as the result of some temporal sequence of events. About a quarter of a century ago - as seen today - the big Beamvies were just big cars with slightly more advanced technology and slightly more equipment than other (to avoid unnecessary comparisons: European) cars. Today, the differences are similar to those described above, but they are noticeably larger. It looks like the Week is pushing gas to develop more than cars aimed at the average European buyer.

When you sign the paperwork to pick up this car, you get the keys. Transparent. But there is no special honor for a car for such a price, if there are actually two keys and you can hardly put them in your trousers pocket. The first, the main key, is a logical consequence of the absorption, and the reason for the second is the item "Heating in place" in the list of accessories. The latter is already quite large, and the former is even bigger, and although it is "smart", you need to lightly stroke one of the hooks to block it when leaving the car. Renault, for example, knows how to make the key smaller (card) and the lock simpler.

Still: this is the largest Beemve, as well as the longest (L-version), otherwise not the most powerful (this honor belongs to the 12-cylinder version), but from the point of view of the drive the most perfect, like an eight-cylinder. in some places the electric motor helps. So a hybrid. Therefore, it is probably best to clarify the topic of fuel consumption from the very beginning. True, with measurements we did not really succeed with numbers, but from a car weighing two tons and a capacity of 342 kilowatts they tried

taking every kilowatt out of it, you can't count on using the Golf TDI. It is not necessary to believe the factory numbers, but they are good for comparison: from the aforementioned V12 Seven, this one from the city to 100 kilometers per hour is 0 seconds slower, the first kilometer takes 3 seconds more (please try this life) and consumes 0 liters less fuel in a normal mixed cycle. Or rather: 7 percent less.

Or a little over an inch and at home: a quarter less. Or, if you look at it from the other end: they spend a good third more! Well, now you know why a hybrid?

On practice? In the usual mechanical and electronic tuning program (which is one of four available) and position D, the gearboxes consume this week (with a slightly superficial reading from the digital curved current consumption bar) at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour. six, 130 8, 5, 160 11, 180 15 and 200 kilometers per hour 17 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. Our consumption ranges from 13 to 24 liters per 100 kilometers, where we dragged almost every "horse" from under the hood. And we have to admit that we really liked it, and we were convinced once again that driving a comfortable limousine can be sporty and very dynamic.

The help of the electric motor of the hybrid drive (the so-called eBoost) turns on imperceptibly and up to the maximum speed, which, by the way, is achieved without the slightest effort of the mechanic and the driver - by the way. . Then the Sedm behaves like a Dacia at 80 kilometers per hour: it works easily and reliably, the driver has a good feeling that he is driving a car, and not vice versa. If we go back to the other side of the speed scale: this BMW, although a hybrid, can be driven not only with electricity, but also has an excellent stop and start system that instantly stops the engine and starts it again with the help of a gasoline engine. only slightly, but perceptibly. perhaps enough to warn the driver, shake.

The driver, as we are accustomed to Beamways, always enjoys the ride, except in the garage, where the extended wheelbase, low tires that are narrower than the rims, and tight corners fold into worn rims. Although it is again the largest and longest BMW, it still has two sports driving programs, the perfectly communicative steering wheel is probably the best automatic transmission (eight gears) for this type of vehicle (no clutch delay: when you step on the gas it starts, in sports programs more decisively, less vigorously in normal and comfortable, but starts immediately) and the ability to completely turn off the electronic stabilization system.

Thanks to all of the above, with an emphasis on the latter, I dare say that this large comfortable sedan handles as sporty and fun as possible. Not (more) two generations ago, but it brings time, and in this case an additional 100 kilograms of weight from the hybrid drive, with most of those kilos being loaded into the rear of the car. It also means a 40-liter smaller boot (now 460) and, worse, an unprepared shape of the space.

On the sidelines, there is an evil statement, which says about two things: if they can draw in Bimwe, then these are headlights and kidneys, and if there is nothing for her, then taillights. But again: this is a different world, where what and how you drive is much more important than makeup. However, there are some complaints that are not related to the form, but to the usability. These large Bimwys have a lot of interior drawers, but because of them there is less and less space for small items, and in half-liter bottles there is no place at all.

However, if you're just opting for a longer wheelbase, the rear seat care package is worth buying, where they become more adjustable, ventilated, massaged and heated, and passengers can be pampered with a good picture from a DVD player. And the sound, of course. A wonderful thing, although I still argue that for all the comfort in the Beemvee, it's best to sit in the driver's seat.

Because this is a completely different world. You can drive a BMW AH 7 L "already" for a good 120 thousand, but if you want exactly what is shown in the photos, the lady will have to give up at least Peugeot RCZ, since the equipment was loaded for 37 thousand euros this week. And it doesn't even have radar cruise control. ...

  • It is this BMW that presents the buyer with a dilemma: to drive in the back seat or to drive it? The rear is truly luxurious, but even this BMW is always a pleasure to drive. Probably the funniest and most dynamic large luxury car. The hybrid part, in addition to increasing power, believe me, also significantly reduces fuel consumption.
