Car races will be held on the moon

It sounds incredible, but it's true, because the RC car racing project on the moon is not NASA, but the Moon Mark company. And the first race will take place in October this year, according to Carscoops.

The idea of the project is to inspire the younger generation for bold projects. It will be attended by 6 teams from different schools. They will go through the preliminary competition, and only two of them will reach the final.

In fact, Moon Mark is partnering with Intuitive Machines, which plans to be the first privately-owned company to land on the moon. The race will be part of this mission, and the racing cars will be brought to the surface by satellite, which will allow additional experiments. Which ones are not yet known.

Frank Stephenson Design, which works with car manufacturers such as Ferrari and McLaren, is also a partner in the Moon Races project. The project also involves aerospace company Lunar Outpost, The Mentor Project and, of course, NASA. The space agency is providing Intuitive Machines with space for vehicles aboard the first lunar mission, scheduled for 2021.

The race itself promises to be spectacular, as the cars will be equipped with a render that can withstand impacts on the surface after jumping. The machines themselves will be controlled in real time. This means a delay in the transmission of the image by about 3 seconds, since the Moon is at a distance of 384 km from Earth.

The cars will be delivered to the moon via a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in October, making this the most expensive car race in history.
