The history of the Aston Martin car brand

Contents FounderEmblemHistory of Aston Martin cars Aston Martin is an English automobile manufacturing company. The headquarters is located in Newport Pannell. Specialization is aimed at the production of expensive hand-assembled sports cars. It is a division of Ford Motor Company. The history of the company dates back to 1914, when two English engineers Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford decided to create a sports car. Initially, the brand name was created on the basis of the names of two engineers, but the name “Aston Martin” appeared in memory of the event when Lionel Martin won the first prize in the Aston racing competition on the first model of the legendary sports car created. The projects of the first cars were created exclusively for sports, as they were produced for racing events. The constant participation of Aston Martin models in racing allowed the company to gain experience and conduct technical analysis of cars, thereby bringing them to perfection. The company developed rapidly, but the outbreak of the First World War significantly suspended the production force. At the end of the war, the company set up production, but ran into a big trouble. Wealthy investor Louis Zborowski crashed to death in a race near Monza. The company, which was already in a difficult financial situation, turned out to be bankrupt. It was acquired by the inventor Renwick, who, together with his friend, developed a model of a power unit with a camshaft at the top. This invention served as a fundamental basis for the release of future models of the company. During the Second World War, there was a significant financial decline of the company and eventually it again found itself on the verge of bankruptcy. The new owner who acquired the company was wealthy entrepreneur David Brown. He made his own adjustments by adding two capital letters of his initials to the name of car models. The production conveyor was launched and a couple of models were launched. Although it is worth noting that the “conveyor” is used here as an artistic technique, since all the models of the company were assembled and assembled by hand. Further, Brown acquired another company, Lagonda, through which many models were significantly improved. One of them was the DBR1, which in the process of modernization made a breakthrough by taking first place in the Le Mans Rally. Also, the car that was taken for the filming of the film “Goldfinger” brought great fame in the world market. The company actively produced sports cars, which were in great demand. Premium cars have become a new level of production.  With the beginning of 1980, the company again ran into financial difficulties and, as a result, it passed from one owner to another. This did not particularly affect the production and did not introduce hard characteristic changes. Seven years later, the company was acquired by Ford Motor Company, which soon bought out all the company's shares. Ford, based on its production experience, produced many modernized car models. But after a slightly short time, the company was already in the hands of the new owners of "Aabar" in the face of Arab sponsors and "Prodrive" represented by entrepreneur David Richards, who soon became the company's CEO. The introduction of new technologies has allowed the company to achieve remarkable results and increase profits every year. It is worth noting that Aston Martin luxury cars are still assembled by hand. They are equipped with individuality, excellence and quality. Founder The founders of the company were Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. Lionel Martin was born in the spring of 1878 in the city of Saint-Eve. In 1891 he was educated at Eton College, and 5 years later he entered college in Oxford, which he graduated in 1902. After graduation, he started selling cars with a colleague from college. He was deprived of his driver's license due to non-payment of a fine. And he switched to cycling, which gave him an acquaintance with cyclist Robert Bamford, with whom a car sales company was organized. In 1915, the first car was created jointly. After 1925, Martin left the company and transferred to bankruptcy management. Lionel Martin died in the fall of 1945 in London. Robert Bamford was born in June 1883. He was fond of cycling and graduated from the university with a degree in engineering. Together with Martin, he created the company and also jointly invented the first Aston Martin car. Robert Bamford died in 1943 in Brighton. Emblem The modern version of the Aston Martin logo consists of white wings above which there is a green rectangle in which the name of the brand is spelled out in upper case. The emblem itself is very aesthetically pleasing and has the following colors: black, white and green, which embody prestige, elegance, prestige, individuality and excellence. The wing symbol is displayed in elements such as freedom and speed, as well as the desire to fly for something greater, which is well reflected in Aston Martin cars. The history of Aston Martin cars The first sports car was created in 1914. It was the Singer that took first place in its first races. Model 11.9 HP was produced in 1926, and in 1936 the Speed model with a strong engine starts. In 1947 and 1950, the Lagonda DB1 and DB2 debuted with a powerful power unit and a displacement of 2.6 liters. Sports cars of these models almost immediately participated in the races. One of the most successful models of that time was the DBR3 with a powerful power unit of 200 hp, released in 1953 and won first place in the Le Mans Rally. The next was the DBR4 model with a coupe body and an engine of 240 hp already, and the developed speed of the sports car was 257 km / h. The limited edition of 19 cars was a modified DB 4GT model released in 1960. The DB 5 was produced in 1963 and became popular not only due to its high technical data, but also gained popularity thanks to the film “Goldfinger”. Based on the DB6 model with a powerful power unit and the prestige of the highest class, the DBS Vantage model came out with an engine power of up to 450 hp. In 1976, the luxury luxury model Lagonda debuted. In addition to high technical data, an eight-cylinder engine, the model had an unrivaled design that conquered the market. In the early 90s, the modernized DB7 sports model was launched, which took pride of place and the title of one of the best cars of the company, and at the end of the 90s in 1999, the Vantage DB7 with an original design was released. The V12 Vanquish took on a lot of Ford's development experience and was equipped with a more powerful engine, in addition to which the technical characteristics of the car have changed significantly, making it even more modern, perfect and comfortable. The company also has ambitious plans for future car production. At this stage, it has gained tremendous fame through the release of sports cars, which are considered “supercars” due to individuality, high quality, speed and other indicators.
